Tine Talk Terminology with Turf Tines

Over the past two decades that we have been perfecting and supplying our sports turf product range, we have heard our parts being referred to by many different names. This has led us to develop our "Tine Talk Terminology" — a list of unique names given to our products by clients.

This is hardly surprising considering we supply a varied client base, both domestically and internationally, including greens keepers, golf course superintendents, sports field contractors, facility managers, racecourse managers, turf technicians, stadium and school grounds managers.

These creative names keep us on our toes and asking more questions! We thought our valued customers might appreciate the fun list of tine talk terminology we have learnt to decipher just as much as we do — check them out below.

Hollow Aeration Coring Tines that eject a plug of thatch and soil can be known as:

  4. Quads
  5. Corers
  6. Aerators
  7. Hollows
  8. Dethatcher tines

So.. next time you ask us for knives, don't be surprised if we demand you choose between solid aeration tines and scarifying blades! And, when you request dethatchers, please expect to be hit with, "Are you referring to scarifying blades, or hollow aeration coring tines?"

All jokes aside, we love hearing the creative names that our clients give our products! Let us know what other names you've heard or used in the comment section of our LinkedIn post.

Thank you for loving our sports turf products just as much as we do. You can check out the entire range here: https://www.tines.com.au/shop/
